Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her marine biology studies at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard launched her professional career in the field of seafood commercial worker in 1999. Bossard began working on the F/V Sunset which was a 65' halibut schooner and was later converted into a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. She was employed as a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been married Aritan. The couple has united and claim their respective fields. Both are in the direction of preserving resources and optimizing profits. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia in the year Bossard came back from her home in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, to Philadelphia. The name Otolith is an affectionate reminder of Bossard's intimate understanding of the biology of fish and her husband's extensive connections in the seafood business. The two are frequently apart for five months in a row while they pursue financial and environmental goals that show their determination and independence wherever they live. Since July of 2016, Bossard along with her daughter Isabella aged 12 and son Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the harvest of wild salmon in the summer. Following two years of fishing using hooks, lines as well as a 42-foot salmon troller they have joined Aritan and were sold to local seafood processors.
